2024 Track and Field Meeting Information

Preseason -Practices/ workouts- General Info – Coach Lloyd ● The Preseason will begin on Tuesday, December 12th ● Athletes who desire to get some Flex training in will need to plan on attending the weight sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday and on the days that we are present and in-person at school ○ ● All weight and flex training periods will take place between 3:00 pm until around– 4:30 pm ● Always refer to our team calendar in the band app or the team site on the high school Athletics web page for workouts and practice days/times for this season. ○ I will make you aware of any changes and or cancellations, and we will submit them via the two sites listed above. ● IMPORTANT – please message me via the band app if you cannot be at practice during the in-season training ● When coming to workout, make sure you, as the athlete, wear the proper clothing when entering the weight room for flex training.

 

Event Qualifying Process – Coach Lloyd ● Please note everyone who wants to join our track program is a member of the track program! ○ However, coaches are limited to the number of athletes that may compete in select races at meets. ● Our top team performers in practices and in meets will be placed accordingly with the success of the program in mind. ● In order to train as a sprinter, mid-distance runner, jumper, hurdler, or thrower, athletes will need to make the cut for that group. ○ The qualifications differ between 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades ● In some of the track and field meets, we are permitted to bring an unlimited number of team runners and throwers (due to the style of the races).

 

Team Band app – Coach Lloyd ● Athletes, please check our Band page for season information – and everything Uniontown track and field from calendars you want to know about the upcoming season; different workouts ● Coaches will use email to send regular updates ○ Expect updates on a weekly basis notifying you what to expect for the week ahead ● Again we will be using the band app, not the “Remind app” use this link to join https://band.us/n/abad9bq4G3u0k

 

Etiquette/Strikes – Coach Lloyd● As coaches, we expect all track and field athletes to be outstanding STUDENT athletes. ● If your behavior is an issue, athletes can be issued a strike. ● For every unexcused absence, the athlete will be issued a strike – please be sure to communicate with your head coach if you will not be able to attend a practice or meet! This is NOT meant for off-season workouts ●. If three strikes are accumulated during the season, the student-athlete will be removed from the team.

 

Indoor Track and Field season- Coach Lloyd ● Winter athletes’ good luck and much success as you begin your Winter seasons, and we will see you in the spring; for any runner or thrower that has the desire to compete over the winter, we will be running in the TSTCA Indoor Track & Field season. The schedule we will do goes as follows: January 6, Saturday, @ Edinboro University          10:00 a.m., January 13, Saturday (January 20, Saturday, January 27, Saturday, February 10, Saturday) are the dates we will be going up to compete with some students. February 17, Saturday, with the championships on February 25  Sunday, PTFCA Indoor Track & Field Championship   10:00 a.m. @ Penn State University

We expect all track and field athletes who want to compete to compete and get better.
